RAL CERAMICS REBRAND
PROJECT OVERVIEW
Pictured on the right is RAL CERAMICS’ old logo. RAL Ceramics is a small women owned ceramics business established in 2020. They were looking to refresh their logo. They wanted to clean up the awkwardness of spacing and fonts as well as make it scalable. They wanted to keep the barn aspect incorporated into the logo, but also wanted to bring more personality and life to it. They also wanted me to make business cards and Thank You cards for them.

The first step in my design process was to make a mood board based on my conversations with the clients. They both really loved earthy tones and natural colors. They also were interested in additional design assets that could be incorporated into their overall identity.

I made sure to include that in my moodboard. This process helped me get my ideas going and build a foundation for where I saw their identity headed. The next step was to start brainstorming and sketching. I spent a lot of time in the sketchbook hashing out ideas and just scribbling out anything I could come up with. I landed on three to move forward with.

From there, I fully vectorized each one of my sketches and started picking out color palettes that I thought would match well with their business. The earthy tone reflects the materiality of clay. This first one, was based simply on just perfecting their old logo, making it cleaner, more scalable, and authentic.

The second logo was a step in a new direction for them. I made their old logo essentially inverted and then also created a badge for them to modernize their branding and to be able to put it on totes and other marketing materials. I made a pattern out of their barn so that they can use it in their socials.

Lasty, this third one was a much bigger step in a new direction. I thought this logo would elevate their brand. I created a mini pot pattern that brings a lot of fun and excitement to their identity. This Logo was the one chosen, after I pitched them all three of these. They felt it made their business seem more lively and professional.

After some revisions, this is the final product we ended up on. The business cards incorporate the mini pot pattern as well as the thank you cards. They wanted to keep a more neutral color palette and didn’t feel the burnt orange reflected their look, so I chose a more neutral palette that they liked in the other directions.
